We are seeking a Senior Accountant – Lease Accounting to join our Financial Accounting team in our Purchase, NY office. The Senior Accountant – Lease Accounting will be responsible for leading IFRS 16 and ASC 840 Lease Accounting and the IAS 38 Accounting over Intangible Assets. This role will include maintaining and performing system administration responsibilities over the Tagetik Lease Accounting Software. The Senior Accountant – Lease Accounting is also required to assist the other Financial Accounting team members with various aspects of the monthly/quarterly close process, and other ad-hoc projects as assigned. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal communications skills, a strong working knowledge of IFRS and STAT accounting principles, Company’s ledger system (e.g. SAP) and will be able to work independently as well as lead teams to support the maintenance and future configuration of these environments as well as the affected stakeholders. The Senior Accountant – Lease Accounting will be responsible for performing Balance Sheet and G&A analytics and quarterly/annual IFRS/CRP reporting required for Home Office. The Senior Accountant – Lease Accounting will report to the Financial Accounting Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the IFRS 16 and ASC 840 Lease Accounting & IAS 38 Intangible Asset Accounting process within the Tagetik Subledger, including the preparation or review/approval of all associated lease and intangible asset journal entries for North America.
- Perform accounting over Software Intangible Assets and collaborate with the IT Finance Team.
- Perform continuous improvements over the Lease Accounting management and reporting process and provide collaboration with the Global Markets and ASNA Finance teams as changes impact the Global process.
- Maintain the Tagetik Lease Accounting System Administration function.
- Primarily liaison between Senior Facilities team members, Corporate FP&A, Accounts Payable and the Financial Accounting team.
- Prepare or review/approve monthly and quarterly journal entries.
- Prepare or review/approve monthly and quarterly account reconciliations.
- Prepare or review/approve monthly and quarterly Balance Sheet Analytics.
- Prepare or review/approve monthly and quarterly G&A Analytics.
- Prepare or review/approve supporting schedules and Head Office supplemental reporting.
- Drive continuous improvements over internal reports and assist the Financial Accounting team with expanded knowledge and utilization of BOBj reporting.
- Proactively participate in continuous process improvements within the North America Finance team and the broader Global Finance organization.
- Proactively participate in the FP&A budget cycle with inputs based on Tagetik reporting and GL activity.
- Actively participate and/or lead AD Hoc Projects, including accounting policy/ procedures documentation and KPI Metrics.
- Assist with internal/ external audit requests and maintain controls documentation.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or in MIS with business concentration.
- CPA required; Public accounting experience preferred.
- 5+ years’ experience supporting software within a large corporate environment.
- Solid GAAP knowledge and strong awareness of IFRS Accounting Standards, including Accounting of Leases (IFRS 16 and ASC 840/842).
- Self-motivated and exhibits ability to build strong relationships with management and team members at various levels, both locally and remotely (US, Bermuda & UK). Additionally, will develop or implement better best practices.
- Ability to lead and manage team members.
- Exhibit a professional demeanor when dealing with those at higher, and lower, levels in the organization.
- Detail oriented and logical/disciplined approach to problem solving.
- Can manage and delegate work effectively, is flexible and adaptable to a rapid changing environment.
- Demonstrate positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills, should be able to effectively collaborate and interact with others.
- Must be willing to take the initiative to improve processes and resolve problems, including managing multiple initiatives simultaneously, prioritize functions and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrate strong analytical, verbal, written interpersonal, communications, prioritization and time management skills.
- Insurance/Reinsurance knowledge preferred.
- Additional working hours are required at peak periods.
- Strong knowledge of SAP General Ledger Accounting System is preferred.
- Experience with a reconciliation/journal tool (i.e. BlackLine) is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency Microsoft Office products (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Power Query), including ability to parse and analyse and interpret large data outputs.
Salary Range: $90,000 – $130,000. Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
