BNF Technologies Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Senior Records Manager in the Atlanta, GA metropolitan area to provide comprehensive records and information management support services to ensure that records management practices for electronic and paper records collections strictly comply with the standards and guidelines set forth by the National Archives and Records Administration.
Duties:
- Records Inventory, Appraisal, Retention, and Disposition
- Inventory
- Perform a records inventory of all physical, paper records within agency workspaces.
- Identify records in a systematic way to facilitate the efficient organization of the records and the analysis of records' value according to CDC current records inventory procedures.
- Appraisal and Retention
- Meet with CDC Records Liaisons to review current records schedules to:
- Identify duplicate, obsolete, or changed items.
- Identify new items.
- Reorganize and consolidate items based on functions and activities to enable the application of retention rules to physical records.
- Develop a plan for applying retention rules to documents in physical repositories.
- Disposition
- Transfer of records to agency storage facilities or NARA records centers.
- Transfer of records from one Federal agency to another.
- Transfer of permanent records to the National Archives of the United States.
- Disposal of temporary records no longer needed to conduct agency business.
- Assist with the identification of records eligible for disposition action.
- Obtain authorization for eligible temporary records from the SME to:
- Dispose of the records.
- Extend the retention requirement for another 1 or 5 years.
- Write a justification for changing the retention to permanent.
- Assist with segregation of records eligible for disposition from active records.
- Apply disposition instructions according to CDC procedures.
- Active Files Management (Paper)
- Develop best practices for managing active paper records, including organizing files, establishing a filing system, and training staff.
- Inactive Files Management and Control
- Develop best practices for managing inactive paper records.
- Digitalization
- Provide a detailed assessment of scanning needs for paper records.
- Develop and execute a digitalization plan to scan and store agency’s paper records.
- Document the process for digitalizing paper records.
- Active Files Management (Electronic)
- Develop File Plans for managing temporary electronic records on agency’s shared drives.
Qualifications:
- An accredited Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum 10 years in all phases of life cycle records management.
- At least 5 years of experience with word processing software, Outlook, and Excel software.
- This position is subject to a background investigation.
