SUMMARY:
Mitsui E&P USA (“MEPUSA”), a subsidiary of Mitsui & Co. Group, is an exploration and production (“E&P”) company with investments in onshore oil and gas assets located in the United States. The Accounting & Finance department is seeking an AP Specialist, who will play a vital role in the Accounting department by ensuring accurate and timely processing of accounts payable transactions. The ideal candidate will have experience in oil & gas A/P, strong communication skills, be willing to work in different capacities and foster a positive team environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage multiple A/P email inboxes; receive and review invoices for accuracy, completeness, and proper authorization.
- Review invoice coding and process invoices prepared by field employees for oil and gas operated properties to ensure accuracy of property/general ledger account/AFE information and ensure appropriate supporting documentation is provided, all in accordance with accounting standards and company policy.
- Resolve discrepancies with vendors and internal departments.
- Prepare and process weekly payments, including checks, ACH transfers, and wire transfers to ensure timely and accurate disbursement of funds to vendors.
- Establish and maintain relationships with new and existing vendors.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve payment-related issues.
- Review and process employee expense reports in accordance with company policies.
- Assist in month-end closing activities related to accounts payable.
- Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Assist with yearly Form 1099 reporting to the Internal Revenue Service.
- Perform other duties as necessary or as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of accounting principles and concepts.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills required to interface effectively with vendors, internal departments, and operations.
- Outstanding administrative and organizational skills.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (including Outlook, Excel, Word) and Adobe PDF.
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE:
- 3+ years of oil and gas accounts payable experience, including both lease operating expense (LOE) and capital expenditure costs (AFE), related to operated oil and gas properties.
- High school diploma required.
- ERP experience; Open Invoice and Quorum experience is a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Fluent verbal and written English skills
