Position Overview
The Financial Analyst is pivotal in providing analytical support to enhance the financial operations related to construction projects and contract management. This role involves deep involvement in budgeting, forecasting, and the financial oversight of construction contracts, requiring a robust understanding of accounting principles, financial modeling, and compliance with governmental financial regulations.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Analyze financial data related to construction projects and contracts to deliver accurate and timely financial recommendations for management decision-making.
- Provide quantitative analysis and data visualization to support strategic initiatives.
- Prepare detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports focusing on construction and contracting activities.
- Proficient in analyzing financial information and providing variance and forecast analysis and reports.
- Assist in developing and monitoring the budget for the projects.
- Lead the preparation and review of annual budgets, emphasizing construction costs and contract agreements.
- Create advanced financial models and forecasts to support strategic initiatives within the construction and contracts discipline.
- Maintain robust financial databases, computer software systems, and manual filing systems specific to construction and contracting financials.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of all financial data pertaining to projects and contracts.
- Enforce compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting, particularly focusing on construction and contracting sectors.
- Support audit activities by facilitating data preparation and analysis, focusing on expenditures and compliance.
- Collects, compiles, verifies, and analyzes financial information and economic indicators to ensure leadership has accurate and timely information for making strategic operational decisions.
- Work collaboratively with various county departments involved in construction and contracting to support financial objectives and ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Assist in the development and monitoring of department performance measures to guide budgetary decision making.
- Provide financial analysis and support for special projects.
Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
Experience:
- 2-5 years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
- At least 1 year of experience working in a Construction Company, or a Government Project.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Knowledge of governmental or public sector finance is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and financial modeling.
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferences:
Education:
- Master's Degree or higher in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
Experience:
- Prior experience working with PeopleSoft.
Licensure:
- Licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
