Aon is looking for a Hurricane View of Risk Advisory Director to work remotely from anywhere in the US!
General Description of Role:
As part of Aon's View of Risk Advisory Team, you will provide hurricane thought leadership to Aon Reinsurance clients with catastrophe exposure in the Americas through model evaluation and model change support, peril research and expertise, and analytical solutions.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead hurricane model evaluations in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America
- Project leader responsible for mentoring and developing other analysts working on hurricane projects
- Deep hurricane expertise - Engage in discussions on model hazard and vulnerability concepts with catastrophe model vendors, Aon catastrophe modelers/brokers, and Aon clients
- Prepare and present technical catastrophe model evaluation results and hurricane concepts to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences
- Produce Aon thought leadership content for external audiences
- Coordinate with Aon's Climate Risk Advisory and Catastrophe Response teams on external messaging and client results related to climate change and recent hurricane events
- Assist with the coordination of and participate in post-disaster hurricane damage surveys as needed
- Conduct hurricane claims analyses and summarize actionable insights for Aon clients
- Collaborate with account teams on hurricane risk management strategies and develop view of risk solutions for Aon clients
Skills/Competencies Required
- 7+ years direct validated experience with catastrophe models, including navigating backend tables using SQL and working with catastrophe modeling output
- Proven ability to identify key hurricane industry events for the Americas and their impact on insurance and building codes
- Familiarity with insurance regulation and concepts related to the hurricane peril, including the Florida Commission on Hurricane Loss Projection Methodology
- Effective interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
- Related BS degree in meteorology, climatology, or engineering, with a strong mathematical, probability and/or statistical foundation (MS or PhD preferred, but not required)
- Proficiency in Spanish is a plus
- R, Python, Tableau experience is a plus
- Industry certifications a plus (ARe, CPCU, CCRMP, CSCR, CCRA)

Pay Transparency Laws:
The salary range for this position is $133,000 to $150,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted to reflect applicant's geographic location.
This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
