The Role:
We are looking for a driven Senior Cost Accountant to join the Milk Makeup accounting team. The role will directly report to the Controller. The Senior Cost Accountant will oversee all accounting processes related to inventory and month-end close.
What YOU’ll do:
- Collaborate cross-functionally to understand inventory levels and the impacts on financial performance.
- Understand and troubleshoot with IT on SAP system related issues that impact inventory, costing, and month-end close.
- Calculate and help shape decisions regarding inventory reserves for excess and obsolete products.
- Coordinate month-end close with upstream departments that impact inventory and cost of goods sold (COGs).
- Monitor and enforce internal controls and SOX compliance related to inventory and COGs.
- Assist in developing and maintaining accounting policies and process documentation related to inventory.
- Become the subject matter expert in all areas that impact inventory on financial reports.
- Perform flux analysis on inventory levels and COGs margins.
- In charge of all inventory levels and COGs related audits requests.
- Challenge current processes and determine opportunities of improvement to drive change and efficiency.
- Understand materiality and properly assess US GAAP Accounting when making/proposing business decisions.
- Other related accounting duties and ad-hoc projects as needed.
We’d like YOU to have:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is required, a focus in Accounting or Finance highly preferred.
- At least 4+ years of relevant experience with physical inventory and general accounting principles; industry experience highly preferred.
- Exceptional organizational and prioritization/time management skills.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a heavy emphasis on mastery of Excel.
- An energetic, positive attitude that encourages a team and builds/maintains robust relationships.
