Actuary / Associate Actuary - Property Pricing
Zurich North America is currently looking for an Actuarial Consultant / Senior Actuarial Consultant to join our Property Pricing team based out of our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois. While Schaumburg is the ideal location, we are open to the following areas: other offices including New York, NY; Owings Mills, MD; Overland Park, KS; Omaha, NE; and virtual.
As part of the Technical Underwriting Line of Business Pricing Team, this role is responsible for delivering the product pricing for Zurich North America, where Property represents over five billion dollars of premium annually. The Line of Business Pricing Team works closely with other Actuarial teams as well as Product Management and Market Facing Underwriting teams to support achievement of Zurich’s financial objectives.
In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
- Ensure quality of model price, rate change and loss cost trends.
- Assist the Line of Business Pricing Team across numerous scheduled, business-as-usual, and ad-hoc projects.
- Deliver pricing analysis support including the development of rates, rating plans, and portfolio management strategies.
- Deliver analyses on several key pricing parameter updates including trend analysis, loss development factors, and expense assumptions.
- Work across actuarial, statistical, and IT functions to support current and future pricing tools across multiple platforms.
- Provide support for and acquire in-depth knowledge of pricing tools and related monitoring.
- Where appropriate, support “Virtuous Circle” meetings across the organization.
- Where appropriate, provide rate filing support including formal indications and evaluation of pricing levels.
- Establish and maintain excellent communication and collaboration within as well as between teams.
This role will be filled at either the Actuarial Consultant or Senior Actuarial Consultant level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.
Basic Qualifications:
Sr. Actuarial Consultant:
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associates Degree
OR - Bachelors Degree
AND - 5 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus FCAS or equivalent international certification
OR - 10 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus ACAS or equivalent international certification.
OR
Actuarial Consultant:
- Bachelors Degree in Mathematics/Statistics or Actuarial Sciences and 5 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area
AND - ACAS or equivalent international certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in multiple functional areas (pricing, reserving, capital management) and knowledge/skills reflective of a senior practitioner.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable range of compensation for roles. The combined salary range for this position is $96,300.00 - $208,600.00. The starting salary range for the Actuarial Consultant is $96,300.00 - $157,700.00 and for the Sr. Actuarial Consultant is $127,400.00 - $208,600.00.
