IMMI is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to join the team in Westfield, Indiana. This position will manage all aspects of the costing system to ensure proper product costing and inventory values while applying prescribed accounting principles, procedures and controls. He or she will lead the organization in developing, analyzing, and presenting timely financial metrics to help drive business decision making. The Senior Cost Accountant should be able to make an immediate impact to the organization. The ideal candidate must have an aptitude for analysis and summary of data, while applying US GAAP to complex inventory related transactions, and for managing inter/intra-company eliminations between multiple plants using multiple currencies. The candidate must be comfortable collaborating closely with the other members of the FP&A and GL Teams on analysis and projects.
The Senior Cost Accountant will report directly to the Manager of Cost Accounting (15+ years of cost experience) and will also have regular interaction with the Company’s CFO (20 years of experience with the Company). This position will have the opportunity to work closely with internal teams such as department managers, plant managers, finance managers, purchasing, change management, sales and operations teams to facilitate and implement resolutions for day-to-day tasks and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.

LOCATION: Onsite- Westfield, IN
RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Maintain expertise in product costing across all IMMI organizations including both standard and average costing systems used by finance, operations and sales.
- Coordinate costing review and setup for new items and revisions working with change management, operations and engineering.
- Manage global standard cost updates including inter/intra-company transactions.
- Coordinate with Global Procurement to update standard purchased materials, and related prices.
- Coordinate calculation of standard labor and OH rates.
- Coordinate calculation of material overhead freight rates.
- Coordinate Global Material and Labor budget.
- Prepare and analyze monthly Material, Labor and OH variances.
- Develop and maintain “Costing Super User” understanding for item costing, transfer pricing, work in process and inventory transactions.
- Maintain business process expertise for all inventory transactions including shipping, receiving, material movement, scrap and job completions.
- Assist with finance review of inventory including obsolete inventory, annual physical inventory counts, capitalization of variances, inventory adjustments, scrap and cycle count programs.
- Complete assigned Month-end close responsibilities including journal entries, review and analysis.
- Maintain proper documentation on all month-end close steps.
- Establish, review and publish monthly reports used in plant financial review meetings with the executive team while ensuring accuracy in the reported data.
- Reconcile all balance sheet and income statement accounts associated with standard cost, inventory and WIP. (Production variances, Purchase Price Variance, Sales and COGS, etc.)
- Participate in Maquiladora Annex 24/31 compliance monitoring.
- Continuously evaluate the costing system and recommend improvements as needed to maintain an accurate global costing structure that meets the Company’s changing business needs.
- Work with cross-functional departments to ensure that Material Costs, Bill-of-Materials, Routers, and Labor Rates are accurately stated.
- Maintain updated procedures related to costing related activities.
- Complete external financial audit requests related to inventory, standards and COGS.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate should have the following characteristics:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
- 3+ years of cost accounting experience in the Manufacturing Industry
- Advanced Excel Skills (Pivot tables, v-lookup, nested IF formulas required)
- Excellent problem solving and analysis skills
- Able to successfully work and interact in a team environment with varied departments
- Solid understanding of proper GAAP
- Strong work ethic
- Able to thrive in a dynamic environment while multi-tasking
Additional characteristics that would be a competitive advantage are:
- Experience with Oracle Enterprise Business System
- Understanding Oracle Product Costing systems and AccountMate average costing system
- CMA preferred but not required.
