POSITION OVERVIEW & PURPOSE
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced, results-driven environment. Candidates need the ability to complete periodic and ad hoc reports under strict deadlines and to critically review the reports for accuracy. The Senior Property Accountant will report directly to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for the day-to-day accounting of multiple residential, commercial, industrial, and/or medical office properties. The Senior Property Accountant will manage and be the primary point of contact for the multifamily portfolio. The Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for reviewing A/R and A/P, monthly general ledger close, financial statement preparation, and analysis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Records and reconciles daily financial information.
- Performs month-end close procedures, including preparation of monthly balance sheet and income statement reconciliations.
- Prepares monthly financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, statement of cash flows, members' equity statements, and budget vs. actual variance reports.
- Analyzes revenues and expenses to ensure they are recorded on a monthly basis.
- Review and approve recurring and non-recurring invoices within the payment processing system.
- Calculates and reconciles monthly bank fees, intercompany billings, and corporate charges.
- Assists with calculating and preparing annual and semi-annual CAM reconciliations.
- Assists with managing Concur reporting/compliance and monthly credit card submissions.
- Inputs new commercial and industrial leases into the ERP system (Yardi).
- Prepares and reconciles monthly construction/loan draws.
- Drafts lender reporting packages.
- Assists the Property Manager with accounting, budgets, forecasting, and general inquiries.
- Provide support to Asset Management, as needed.
- Promotes process efficiency and creates a best practices environment.
- Responds to vendor and/or property manager inquiries on a timely basis.
- Other duties as assigned to ensure operational success and implementation of best practices.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from general management, asset management, property management, development teams, vendors, and lenders.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to analyze and interpret lease agreements.
- Ability to prepare, interpret, and present periodic financial results to senior financial management and property level management.
- Basic computer and software skills, including word processing, data entry and analysis, and presentation development.
- Advanced computer and software skills, including Excel or equivalent.
- Ability to appropriately prioritize and manage multiple requests at once.
- Organized, detailed, reliable approach to duties and communication.
- Consistently professional, collaborative, and responsive approach to interactions with colleagues and vendors.
- Strong ability to self-motivate, take initiative, and manage time to accomplish duties and projects independently.
- Excellent judgment and ability to ask for help in critical applications.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- 3+ years relevant real estate experience, preferred.
- Experience with Yardi Accounting system strongly preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills required.
- Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
