Staff Accountant I
Mountain Engineering (MGE) is recruiting for a Staff Accountant I to join the onsite accounting team in supporting the general accounting operations. Our company provides Professional, Construction and Line Services to local communities, county, and states. Through the power of our integrated teams, MGE provides safe, innovative and environmentally responsible solutions for today and tomorrow. Also, MGE Corporate office is located in the city of Folsom. There are nice walking trails near the corporate office.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform and maintain monthly Bank Reconciliation and GL Accounts Reconciliation
- Prepare monthly journal entries for Fixed Assets, Investments, Notes Payable and Notes Receivable, etc.
- Reconcile and monitor Intercompany reconciliations (AP, AR, Notes Payable and Receivable)
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Participate and gather data for external monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting
- Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
- Research and analyze financial information and summarize financial status
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures for efficiency
- Generate financial statements and run data reports
- Assist with internal and external audits to ensure compliance
- Develop and document business processes in accordance with GAAP to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Support other accounting tasks and/or projects
Skills & Education Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting and two years of work experience in general accounting are required
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and concepts
- Strong understanding of debit and credit accounting in T Account
- Must be able to work with little supervision and have the ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
- Excellent organizational skills and strong analytical skills to read and analyze financial information
- Advanced in MS Word and Excel skills including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables
- Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like QuickBooks and/or Spectrum are a plus
- Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to interpret quotes, contracts, promissory notes, and invoicing documents.
