Summary
This opportunity is for a candidate to be part of our general accounting team. This individual will be responsible for a variety of activities such as fixed asset accounting, preparing account reconciliation, and executing monthly accounting close activities in our ERP system. The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of accrual accounting and be knowledgeable of fixed assets accounting principles to manage the fixed assets of the Company, review asset entries, and determine the accuracy of depreciation expense calculated and recorded monthly. The candidate will maintain the fixed asset ledger and be responsible for the accounting associated with the additions, disposition, and transfer of fixed assets as needed. The candidate will prepare and maintain the fixed asset roll-forward schedule by legal entities and handle all audit inquiries related to fixed assets.
Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this position will be responsible for recording journal entries, preparing account reconciliations of various accounts, and performing spot audits to assess controls effectiveness in certain significant processes. This candidate must be team-oriented while possessing the ability to work independently. The selected individual must possess the ability to multi-task and have a high degree of initiative, ownership, accuracy, and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Critical skills the candidate must possess include being organized, proactive, collaborative, a critical thinker, adaptable, having a sense of urgency, and a detailed nature.
General Accountant Responsibilities
- Responsible for certain significant accounting accounts to record journal entries correctly.
- Timely closing of the books on a monthly basis in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Perform accounting activities and ensure compliance with accounting rules and the Company’s accounting policies.
- Work closely with the Assistant Controller to ensure accounts are reconciled monthly and/or quarterly depending on account risk profiles established.
- Assist with maintaining a robust system of internal controls to drive financial data transparency and process efficiency.
- Assist others in the preparation of monthly internal management reporting packages and other analyses as needed.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- CPA designation preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years related experience in the Accounting profession and performing fixed asset-related accounting responsibilities.
- Working knowledge of Sage Intacct ERP is a plus.
- Strong MS Office application (Excel and Word) required.
- Google Workspace experience preferred.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong and effective written and oral communication skills required.
- Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy required.
- Adaptability/flexibility and teamwork skills are necessary.
