Summary:
This role will provide risk management and oversight to develop, implement, and deploy the strategic direction for Huntington’s API/ERP/Ledgering and related deposit capability solutions.
This position, in conjunction with the Enterprise Payment product teams (such as ACH, Merchant, RPT) as well as Digital & IT Delivery teams, aims to drive our roadmap through effective partnership with Segment leaders, risk partners, and demonstrated expertise across the API/ERP/Ledgering domain. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring Huntington follows the required policies and procedures, within Huntington’s established risk appetite and in accordance with rules, laws, and regulatory expectations.
The API/ERP/Ledgering Segment Risk Officer:
- Will have familiarity with software platforms and applications across which APIs will be designed, developed, monitored, and configured for client needs; and ERP modules/data interfaces are implemented.
- Possess knowledge of data security, flow, and usage, ensuring secure data exchanges between different banking platforms and ERPs.
- Will be responsible for risk assessing integrations between ERP systems and other enterprise applications, ensuring secure data exchanges between different banking platforms and ERPs.
- Support the design, testing, and implementation of integrations between ERP systems and resolve system integration issues.
- Have working knowledge of Restful API design patterns.
- Understand the ledgering landscape and identify opportunities to improve product offerings and customer experience.
- Have an understanding of verticals like Real Estate/Property Management, Title Companies, and Escrow-based workflows.
- Support the design, testing, and implementation.
- Demonstrate the ability to quickly analyze situations and risks, determine paths of action, and execute flawlessly; must be savvy and passionate about driving results and innovation.
- Partner with Legal and Risk teams to ensure adherence to the right policy frameworks for these capabilities.
- The qualified candidate must demonstrate strong leadership, influence, and the ability to work independently, collaborate, and use sound judgment considering prudent risk management principles, regulatory requirements, and business objectives.
- This role reports directly to the Senior Segment Risk Officer.
Essential Job Functions:
- Act as the central point for receipt and distribution of important risk information for the business segment and reciprocate the flow of information back to corporate risk management.
- Ensure business segment adheres to corporate and business unit policies and procedures.
- Develop, maintain, and continually enhance a proactive operational and regulatory risk management program for supporting the API/ERP/Ledgering strategic direction.
- Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of enterprise and regulatory controls and the resulting risk and control self-assessments.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of controls and escalate as appropriate.
- Direct self-monitoring and testing activities to ensure that they are performed in accordance with Corporate Risk Management requirements.
- Deliver timely escalation of all issues requiring attention to senior management.
- Collaborate with audit/business segment/corporate risk to address issues with plausible action plans and target dates.
- Develop/maintain strong positive working relationships with Segment leadership, colleagues, and risk partners.
- Effectively present results and findings from independent assessments and gain buy-in to influence any necessary change.
- Develop and deliver reporting to senior leadership and governance committees, as needed.
- Respond to internal and external audits, exams, and requests for information and assist in the evaluation of audit and examination findings/observations and implementation of corrective action and responses.
- Help foster a risk awareness culture in the business segment.
- Lead a team of experienced Risk Specialists.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications/Competencies/Skills:
- 7-10 years of Operational risk management and payments experience.
- 5+ years of Payments experience with Fintechs or Banks.
- Strong leadership and relationship management skills including the ability to lead up and across the organization.
- Holds self and others accountable for meeting commitments by setting and clearly communicating expectations and roles and responsibilities relative to operational risk within Enterprise Payments.
- Superior organization, project management, and analytical skills and attention to detail.
- High-level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity, and compliance.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbal.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity, multi-task, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills to build a shared agenda and drive results through collaboration.
- Ability to build a team, appropriately delegate, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
