Position Summary: Our client is looking for an Accounting Manager to lead their accounting team and oversee all aspects of their financial reporting and analysis. You will be responsible for preparing and reviewing financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, implementing and improving accounting systems and processes, and providing financial insights and recommendations to senior management.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong analytical and technical background, as well as a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. You will be expected to deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while focusing on achieving their strategic goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monthly journal entries
- Monthly, quarterly, and annual closings
- Prepare daily deposit
- Oversee the accounts payable, receivable, and payroll process
- Payroll reconciliations
- General ledger account reconciliations
- Prepare and file monthly sales tax report with State of Ohio
- Prepare and file quarterly Commercial Activity Tax
- Oversee and manage payroll tax filings including Form 941
- Complete workers’ compensation filings
- Compute general manager bonuses in collaboration with leadership
- Advise on pay changes and new hire pay rates
- Manage the QuickBooks system
- Perform accounting projects as needed including but not limited to food and labor cost analysis, credit card processing review, financial statement development, annual budgeting, capital expenditures budgeting and cash and financial forecasting.
- Liaise with outside CPAs, payroll processor, and Fractional CFO
- Ad hoc reporting
- Complete other tasks, projects and job duties as assigned and/or deemed appropriate.
- Prepare and analyze financial documents, forecasts, budgets, and statements in accordance with GAAP
- Coordinate and manage the external tax returns and ensure timely completion
- Develop and ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Implement and improve accounting systems, digital technology, and automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Analyze financial data and provide insights and recommendations to senior management
- Support the restaurant operations team with financial information and guidance
- Manage, mentor, and develop the finance team.
- Keep updated on the financial markets to understand how to maximize profits and find new expansion areas.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting – required
- 4+ years in accounting roles including previous experience as a Senior Accountant
- Internal and external financial reporting development
- Financial systems management (QuickBooks preferred)
- Auditing skills
- Ability to understand and communicate general business tax matters
- Working knowledge of payroll processes and requirements
- Working knowledge of ADP Workforce Now preferred
- A strong understanding of IT systems, digital technology, and automation
- A desire to learn about our day-to-day operations and support our store teams

- Multiple industry exposure with one being restaurant/food service
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Communication skills – comfortable guiding the leadership team as well as working with store general managers
- Owning/leading the accounting and finance function in a collaborative team environment
