Summary of Responsibilities
As a key member of the Real Estate team, the Manager, Real Estate Finance is responsible for managing the debt platform for new and existing real estate investments, developing relationships with key strategic lenders, coordinating loan closings, advising real estate development and asset management on financing options and preparing reporting on the debt markets and the Company’s debt portfolio. The position will also oversee real estate financial analysts responsible for the monthly loan draw process, compliance with loan agreements, and reporting.
Essential Job Functions
- Manage and develop a team of high-performing employee-owners, providing coaching, feedback, and technical training
- Monitor KPIs for debt portfolio and forecast performance
- Execute on complex financing initiatives (loan closings, modifications, recapitalizations) through detailed planning and aligning internal and external resources
- Review and negotiate loan documents
- Establish and maintain strong lender relationships
- Responsible for debt underwriting (leverage, interest rates, DSCR, etc.) and understanding assumptions to reconcile to bank and/or appraiser’s underwriting to successfully place debt
- Own construction loan draw process and ensure timely payment of subcontractors
- Drive and ensure strict adherence to lender reporting, obligations, and covenants for each borrowing
- Prepare RFPs and documentation for debt providers for real estate developments
- Prepare loan abstracts/synopsis at the closing of a financing
- Distill debt market conditions, present comprehensive updates and analysis to internal stakeholders to inform underwriting guidelines, structure financings, inform proactive actions on portfolio to maximize investment returns
- Lead strategic initiatives and special projects as required

Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of seven to 10 years of experience in real estate finance and capitalizing real estate developments
- Bachelor's degree in finance, real estate, accounting, or a related field
Safety Hazard of the Job
Normal safety hazards associated with office work, and with occasional observational visits to construction sites.
Physical Demands
Low physical effort required to sit, stand at files, bend, stoop, lift, and walk. Maximum unassisted lift is 35 lbs. Average lift is less than 10 lbs. Requires ability to use a keyboard and monitor. Also requires the ability to communicate verbally, both in person and on the telephone. May require some travel by car.
Environmental Requirements
Average inside office environment. Average office noise levels. No personal protective equipment is required. Ambient temperature is between 68F and 76F.
