Job Description
SUMMARY
The Control Accounting Specialist I is responsible for facilitating money movements and bank account reconciliations based on daily transactions for the clients of Ultimus Fund Solutions.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
MONEY MOVEMENTS
- Enters wires at custody banks or faxes instructions to custody banks to facilitate wires using listing of wires from daily money movement reports; enters wires to customer bank using daily instructions.
- Prints and reviews accuracy of daily money movement reports used in compiling daily movements to and from custody bank accounts; follows-up on discrepancies.
- Balances check deposits, ACH deposits, and wire deposits against money movement reports.
- Compiles a list of wires to and from custody banks using daily money movement reports.
- Supplies Fund Accounting department a breakdown of daily custody movements.
- Works with control team members and team manager to assure wires are correct, approved, and released by cut off times.
- Assists Reconciliation Specialist with daily research on any outstanding items received regarding bank account reconciliation.
RECEIVABLE AND PAYABLE REPORTING
- Updates and completes open receivable and payable records for shareholder movements.
- Communicates and resolves open receivable and payable issues with supervisor and fund accounting.
- Assists in completing TA-FA compare and assists in resolution of differences.
BANK ACCOUNT RECONCILIATION
- Updates and completes open receivable and payable lists with daily trade and money movement activity; ensures open items are researched and resolved in a timely manner.
- Coordinates follow-up of outstanding bank account reconciliation items with Control Accountant and Reconciliation Specialist.
- Assists Fund Accounting department regarding any questions that arise in daily NAV calculation.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
- Daily contact with Fund Accounting regarding NAV calculation questions or daily money movement reports.
- Regular contact with Control Accounting team and Reconciliation Specialist regarding outstanding items.
May perform other duties as required and assigned.
KNOWLEDGE
- Reporting and wire entry procedures on bank websites.
- Accounting and financial principals for numerous investment vehicles.
- Financial instruments including stocks, bonds, options, and foreign securities and derivatives.
- Microsoft Office Suite.
- Adobe Acrobat.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Undergraduate degree in business administration, accounting, tax, finance, or related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in accounting, reconciliation, or finance related role.
- Experience working in Mutual Fund industry.
Equivalent education, experience, and KSA’s will be considered.
