The Microsoft Operations Finance Revenue Recognition team is responsible for the reporting accuracy of billions of dollars of revenue across the world for both United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and local statutory reporting. Responsibilities
- Prepare customer contract assessments in compliance with Microsoft’s Accounting Standards Codification 606 (ASC 606) accounting policies and guidelines to document accounting conclusions and calculate revenue adjustments.
- Assess contract amendments to draw proper ASC 606 conclusions and determine Day 2 revenue adjustments.
- Engage in discussions with Deal Desk to gather deal specific information and business context required to effectively complete contract reviews and amendment assessments.
- Review peer work product for completeness and accuracy once proficiency of product and services knowledge is attained.
- Perform month end close revenue tasks independently.
- Develop deep understanding of Microsoft revenue policies to effectively pose and field inquiries to/from business partners.
- Identify deal trends to raise for leadership consideration.
- Ability to develop and grow in role and at Microsoft.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 2+ years accounting or finance experience.
- OR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 1+ years accounting or finance experience.
Additional/Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 4+ years of accounting or finance experience.
- OR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 2+ years accounting or finance experience.
- Professional accounting certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent.
- Experience in the technology or software industry and/or with multinationals with multi-product and segment finance roles.
- ASC 606 experience/practical application.
Accounting IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $72,800 - $144,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $95,100 - $157,900 per year.
