Work Arrangement
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to GM Global Technical Center - Cole Engineering Tower, Warren, MI, three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
The Global Purchasing and Supply Chain (GPSC) Finance Team has a Senior Financial Analyst opportunity supporting the Supplier Financial Risk Mitigation (SFRM) team. The SFRM area provides a dynamic experience working with numerous cross-functional disciplines including GPSC, Customer Care and Aftersales, Treasury, Technical Accounting and Legal to proactively address financially distressed suppliers. The role provides the opportunity to display your financial acumen, be actively involved in leading the Purchasing organization through the development of proactive strategies to mitigate both financial and operational risk while being actively involved in commercial negotiations.
What You'll Do
- Assess financial strength of supply base with financial statement analysis & business risk assessment.
- Serve as Finance partner to operational purchasing and supply chain teams providing innovative insights & ideas.
- Lead analytical & strategic support for commercial negotiations.
- Apply analytical skills across a broad range of projects including turnaround plans, restructuring / bankruptcy, operational improvement plans.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Legal, Treasury and Technical Accounting to develop and execute strategies.
- Understand current global and economic trends and identify potential impact to GM’s exposure.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- At least 5 years of work experience in corporate restructuring, investment or commercial banking, treasury, audit or transaction advisory and/or consulting or corporate positions with a financial or accounting focus; direct restructuring experience is a plus.
- Strong business acumen, analytical capability and project management / organizational skills.
- Advanced level of experience in financial modeling with ability to build 13-week cash flow forecast and 3-statement financial models with limited oversight.
- Strategic mindset, strong communicator, independent self-starter.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel- V-lookups, Pivot Table.

- Leverage your resourcefulness and independent judgment to drive new ideas, concepts and projects in a fluid and ambiguous environment.
- Perform balance sheet analysis, net income statement analysis, cash flow statement analysis, knowledge of debt structures, etc.
- Understanding of the fundamental aspects of Chapter 11 proceedings is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, facilitation and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized, proactive in resolving issues and move projects forward.
- Ability to work under high pressure and adapt to dynamic work environment.
- Ability to analyze data to draw key insights.
- Ability to partner with legal in drafting of legal agreements reflecting business arrangements.
- Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to teamwork and partnerships.
