As a Social Science Research Analyst, you will:
- Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of policy issues using appropriate research methodology and presents information and findings in analytical papers or provide input into reports and papers.
- Apply professional knowledge of behavioral psychological principles, theories, methods, or data to Social Security and retirement-related research.
- Plane and develop design and layouts for publications and prepare information for electronic media productions and release with the assistance of specialists.
- Prepare position papers and reports for higher-level officials.
To qualify for Social Science Research Analyst positions , applicants must possess one of the following:
- A degree in behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position. NOTE: Transcripts are required to substantiate education; OR
- A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. NOTE: Transcripts are required to substantiate education; OR
- Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
TRANSCRIPTS ARE REQUIRED TO SUBSTANTIATE POSSESSION OF QUALIFYING EDUCATION .
In addition, applicants must qualify for the posted grade level(s). To qualify for the GS-11 , applicants must also possess one of the following:
- A Masters, or equivalent graduate degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. NOTE: Transcripts are required to substantiate education; OR
- 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-9 level, or equivalent, which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
To qualify for the GS-11 , applicants must also possess one of the following:
- A PH.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a behavioral or social science. NOTE: Transcripts are required to substantiate education; OR
- 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-11 level, or equivalent, which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
