Summary
Balfour Beatty Management, Inc., located in Woodcliff Lake, NJ, is seeking an entry level Tax Accountant to support management in our North American Tax Headquarters. This position requires the ability to exercise independent judgment as well as deliver results. Candidate must proactively take ownership of projects and initiatives. This individual will work a hybrid schedule (two days in the office, three from home).
Essential Functions
- Prepare tax provisions consistent with ASC740 including supporting workpapers and analysis for IFRS and U.S. GAAP financial statements.
- Analysis of deferred tax assets and liabilities including maintaining cumulative deferred tax balances with supporting workpapers.
- Prepare income, partnership and franchise tax returns as well as amended returns for corporations and partnerships.
- Research and analyze tax laws and prepare final field reports for risk assessment reviews.
- Management and analysis of all tax accounts. Requires interaction with individual operating companies’ finance departments.
- Investigate and resolve state tax notices.
- Collect and evaluate data to assist management and operating company personnel with tax audits.
- Research state and local tax rules for project bid requests.
- Maintain tax return files to ensure supporting documentation is accurate.
- Assist in preparation of sales and use tax returns.
- Assist in preparation of personal property tax returns.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 1-2 years of tax accounting experience.
- Strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills are necessary.
- Strong PC skills utilizing Excel, Word, Power Point, Adobe Acrobat and Outlook.
- Strong analytical skills are required along with the ability to work independently.
