We are looking for an Estimator to join our talented team in the Project Management Department. Reporting to the Team Lead, the incumbent will be responsible to plan, direct, monitor, and coordinate projects in the bidding phase.
More specifically, you will have to:
- Plan, direct, coordinate multiple bids simultaneously in a given territory and establish scope, schedule, and budget. This includes but is not limited to: quotes, qualifications, document management, negotiations, government regulatory compliance, communication, and continuous improvement.
- Help manage and control the contract process in conjunction with the Contract Administrator and client.
Pre-bid/Bidding/Planning:
- Performs pre-bid activities, including procurement of necessary plans and specifications, scope review, and request for quotes from subcontractors.
- Request Bid Bonds.
- Provides technical sales support, as applicable.
- Provides material take-offs.
- Pre-qualify subcontractors.
- Quantify and confirm synthetic turf pricing.
- Review General and Supplemental Conditions.
- Completes scope review and build estimate, sets profitability with assistance from supervisor.
- Submits Request for Information to Owner, A/E for bids.
- Identifies scope risk, makes recommendations on how to mitigate risk.
- Chairs weekly conference call with Regional Sales representatives to ensure bids are being tracked.
- Updates bid activity metrics.
- Submits final bid package.
- Assists with bid forms and qualifies sub-trade proposals, as applicable, not limited to: schedules, Project Management Plans, narratives, scope clarifications, alternates, resumes/key personnel, subcontractors.
- Verifies that necessary critical documents, local rules, and permits are complete, delivered, and/or posted.
Qualifications:
- General construction knowledge; understands specifications, drawings, materials, and methods and procedures.
- Intermediate knowledge of key principles involved in bid preparation; including quantity takeoff procedures and systems, subtrade partner procurement, pricing, interdepartmental functions, and bid-closing procedures.
- Understanding of market conditions, business trends, internal historical information, and competitors.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with stakeholders including the ability to solicit subtrade partners and suppliers.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (intermediate level of Excel).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments at once.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
