Virtua Health is looking for an Accounting Manager to support the growth within their joint venture team. This position will complete month-end financial statements along with all supporting documentation for all balance sheet accounts within compliance of GAAP. Review and monitor the prepared financial statements and supporting documentation prepared by outside sources along with coordinating month-end calls to discuss financial results with management. Prepare consolidated financial reports along with monitoring key performance indicators against budget and prior year. Assist with internal audits and review year-end tax returns for completeness which were prepared by third party accountants. Manage and coordinate the annual budget process with operational leaders. Monitor and assure financial controls exist for all centers. Provide leadership to staff and day to day direction to staff. Check for thoroughness of their work along with follow-through and empower staff to make recommendations for process improvement. When necessary, prepare periodic and special financial analysis for decision-making. This individual will also support and assist operational managers with understanding their monthly financial performance. Must also be able to assist and help with due diligence on acquisition of new centers. Must possess thorough knowledge of general accounting systems and serve as system administrator of various financial systems.
Summary:
• Manages and coordinates the daily work and operations of the finance staff.
• Oversees monthly financial statements, stakeholder statements, budget, statistics, revenue, expense and reviews variance analysis.
• Evaluates, recommends and implements systems, policies & procedures.
• Establishes and maintains effective communications with operational managers to review budget variances and promote resource stewardship.
Position Responsibilities:
• Reviews the preparation of the monthly financial, budget and statistical statements, account analysis of balance sheet, expense and revenue accounts. Checks for thoroughness, staff follow-through, and empowers the staff to make recommendations for improvements.
• Provides leadership and day to day direction for the finance department.
• Effectively utilizes staff to perform at optimal levels.
• Organizes and directs accounting personnel in collecting, summarizing, and interpreting financial data for use by management.
• Manages the process for the completion of all financial reporting to Regulatory Agencies, including Federal and State, i.e., IRS 990 tax exempt return, NJ Charitable Registration, Medicare, Medicaid and state Cost reports and Bond Compliance.
• Manages the year-end financial audit and quarterly and annual surveys, including the preparation of work papers, and interaction with internal and external auditors.
• Manages and coordinates the annual budget process, educates and assists operational leadership with departmental workbooks and summarizes budget detail for senior management.
• Implements new systems related to financial controls and assists in matters as they relate to financial operations.
• Serves as System Administrator in various financial systems.
Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:
• Five to seven years of accounting or finance experience with one to three years supervisory experience required.
• Must possess knowledge and understanding of accounting practice and theory, specifically Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Ability to work independently to achieve goals and prioritize work assignments.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Must have a working knowledge of Windows, Word, and Excel.
• Thorough knowledge of general ledger software packages.
Required Education:
• Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Accounting or Finance.
• Certification as public or managerial accountant or Master’s Degree in Business Administration in related field is preferred.
