Job Description and Duties
The Financial Statements & Game Accounting Supervisor is responsible for organizing, directing, and supervising professional staff in general ledger accounting, and coordinating the production of quarterly, monthly, and annual financial reports and quarterly fund transfers. All work must be in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), government code, Lottery regulations, and pronouncements from the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
- Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting including GL accounting experience and financial statement preparation
- Knowledge of state accounting practices and Budgetary/Legal basis statements
- Supervision experience
- Leadership skills
- Strong technical skills and working knowledge of accounting and financial systems
- Ability to analyze issues, make sound decisions and provide recommendations in regard to professional accounting problems
- Communication skills
- Experience working with auditors
