Job Description:
Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is seeking a Research Analyst. The position will report to the Associate Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness and Research. The primary responsibilities include providing essential data analytics in support of overall data governance for the college; aiding in the development of data visualizations and dashboards with the student information system and other data sources and software as appropriate; automating and coordinating responses to requests for data and information; conducting survey research as assigned by the AVP; and contributing to all data needs for strategic decision making at the college. This position will also provide support for assessment, planning, and accreditation activities.
General Description of Responsibilities and Duties:
- Knowledge of statistical software, structured query language (SQL), research methodology, and statistical and analytical techniques.
- Ability to analyze user requirements and build dashboards, reports, or other BI applications according to specifications.
- Exceptional analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data and develop reports for both internal and external audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate data findings via written reports, clear presentations to individuals and groups, using creative visualizations.
- Demonstrated ability in survey research, design, and analysis.
- Assists the SACSCOC Liaison in preparing documents and reports for accreditation.
- Assists with the collection and documentation of assessment and planning data.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple projects, to complete complex projects within established timeframes, and to accurately perform detailed work.
- Demonstrated ability to relate and work collaboratively with individuals at all levels and serve in leadership roles.
- Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community, as well as to integrate considerations of diversity, equity, and inclusion into data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

- Relevant experience in a related field or a blend of education and practical experience.
- Strong analytical and organizational abilities.
- Proven ability to engage with ethnically and culturally diverse groups.
- Knowledge of incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion principles into data analysis and reporting.
