Objective
This position requires a growth minded individual in a fast-paced entrepreneurial Family Office with multiple companies. This position is a member of the Van Tuyl Family Office (VTFO) Finance & Accounting department and is responsible for full cycle general ledger accounting for select VTFO operating and real estate entities. The primary focus is on accurate and timely reporting of internally managed companies as well as reviewing the accounting and reporting for our third party development partners. Duties will include managing and maintaining general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, cash management, and real estate property management and construction work for companies. This position may also participate in the VTFO tax compliance process.
Abilities/Skills
- Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Intermediate Excel knowledge
- Experience with ERP systems required, Sage, and CS Fixed Asset Solutions a plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to review both internally- and externally-prepared financial statements
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as a team player
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Role & Key
Responsibilities
(not all experience required)
- Full Accounting and financial statement preparation and analysis for the VTFO management company to include full general ledger responsibility
- Responsible for all accounting and finance oversight for set of companies, including real estate, rental, investments, and development properties
- Daily cash, general ledger, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Fixed asset setup and maintenance, including depreciation and amortization calculations
- Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities on all assigned entities including third party real estate investment and construction financials
- Assists other team members in the general month end closing cycle
- Financial and project reporting and analysis as needed
- Continuous management and support of budget and forecast activities
- Preparation and review of federal, state, and local income tax returns for businesses, including preparation of supporting workpaper documentation and reconciliations to returns
- Demonstrate initiative in understanding process flows and controls and make suggestions on potential improvements and cost savings with time
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned or responsibilities dictate

Requirements
Education/Experience
- 2+ Years accounting experience
- Real estate, to include active development and rental operating a plus
- 4 year Accounting Bachelor’s degree – MBA or CPA a plus
