Staff Accountant - Atlanta - Financial Services Industry
The Fund Accountant’s main responsibility will be to assist the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) and Senior Accountant (SA) with the day-to-day accounting operations for 5 domestic mutual funds, one foreign-based mutual fund, a hedge fund, and two private equity funds, all of which focus on structured credit.
Responsibilities Include:
- Preparation of monthly shadow accounting schedule for review by CAO/SA
- Assist in implementation of shadow accounting system
- Assist CAO/SA with enhancing monthly NAV process
- Daily reconciliation of trading activity and reconciliation of Bloomberg AIM to broker activity
- Perform cash reconciliations for all accounts
- Reconciliation of income accruals on portfolio positions and reconciliation to broker activity
- Daily tracking of all payables and receivables
- Expense tracking and preparation of expense payments for review
- Preparation of monthly expense budgets for CAO review
- Calculation and tracking of expense accruals
- Assist in review of monthly administrator reporting package and NAV
- Assist in monthly P&L reconciliation to administrator
- Assist in the preparation of annual audit and tax deliverables
- Assist in drafting and review of financial statements for annual audit
- Assist in preparation of required Board Materials
- Assist in various ad hoc projects with CAO/SA and other teams within the Company
Qualifications:
- 0-2 years of industry experience with Big 4 experience a plus
- Fund accounting experience a plus
- Detail oriented and willing to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills a must
- Ability to take ownership of projects and prioritize multiple tasks
- Must be proficient in MS Office Suite
- Experience with Axys, Geneva, Partner, HedgeTec, Investran, or other fund accounting software strongly preferred
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
