Job Description
General Purpose of Job:
The role of Financial Analyst - Senior will analyze a wide variety of financial and patient level data within the Finance department. This role will perform a variety of complex and confidential duties requiring a thorough knowledge of the organization's policies and procedures.
Essential Duties:
- Develops complex spreadsheets to analyze disparate financial data
- Works independently and is effective at multi-tasking with minimal supervision
- Ensures ongoing communication and dialogue with key service lines
- Leads a project team of analysts to identify and present cost savings ideas
- Meets independently with senior level leaders to review financial results and provide variance explanations if necessary
- Makes necessary adjustments to ensure routine and project work remain on track
- Completes ad hoc analysis and projects independently
- Evaluates present and proposed financial programs by interpreting detailed financial and patient level data
- Active participant in department assessment, visioning, re-engineering and other duties as assigned
- Exhibits accountability and ownership for computer applications used within the department
- Maintains own professional growth through appropriate organizations, seminars and workshops
Job Requirements

Work Experience:
Minimum of 6 years experience in financial analyst role or related business experience. Previous financial analyst experience in healthcare setting preferred.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related business degree.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Advanced with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Strong spreadsheet software knowledge. Ability to work independently and exercise good decision making. Able to maintain strict confidentiality. Strong attention to detail. Demonstrates strong initiative to resolve issues and is a proactive team player. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
**This is a Regional Position for University of Michigan Health Partners. The selected candidate could be based out of Grand Rapids or Lansing. **
