The Accounts Payable Lead will oversee the accounts payable process and ensure the timely and accurate payment of invoices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounts payable, preferably within the construction industry, and possess excellent organizational and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Management of Accounts Payable:
- Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process.
- Review and approve invoice changes/vendor changes.
- Ensure all invoices are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain and monitor reconciliation of vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
Team Leadership:
- Support and mentor the accounts payable team.
- Provide training and support to team members.
- Monitor tasks and responsibilities of team members ensuring workload balance.
- Collaborate with AP/AR Manager on performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
Vendor Relations:
- Maintain positive relationships with vendors.
- Address vendor inquiries and resolve payment issues.
- Negotiate payment terms and manage vendor expectations.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Prepare and analyze accounts payable reports.
- Participate in internal control walkthroughs during audits.
- Assist with month-end closing and financial reporting.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounts payable processes.
- Implement best practices to enhance efficiency.
- Monitor workflow process software to improve workflow.
- Work closely with the finance team to manage cash flow.
- Collaborate with operations and area managers to align on budget and expense tracking.
- Support other departments with accounts payable-related inquiries.
Qualifications:
- Experience in Accounts Payable.
- Experience in the construction industry is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., JD Edwards, Tungsten Workflow, Kofax).
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
