The Senior Accountant is responsible for the accounting of the daily activity and prepares interim and annual financial reports for endowment funds, and JFC Security LLC, as well as assists in the daily operation and internal control of the accounting department.
This position is full-time and reports to the Chief Administrative Officer for JFC Security LLC and Assistant Controller.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Prepares periodic financial reports for endowment funds, special purpose funds, and Security, including, for example, reports for presentation to Federation committees and internal financials for inclusion in quarterly reports required by banks.
- Prepares schedules for year-end consolidation (which includes over 50 entities) and footnotes for external audit.
- Calculations of spending available from endowment funds, and fees due from such funds.
- Accounting for activity for Security, Endowment and Special Purpose funds.
- Assists with billing for JFC Security LLC.
- Assists with budget development and management for Federation, cemeteries, and JFC Security, LLC.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and/or Experience:
- At least 3 years work experience in accounting positions.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:
- Developed knowledge of standard accounting practices.
- Team building skills; organizational and staff development skills preferred.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret accounting reports, as well as write reports and business correspondence.
- Able to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously, and consistently meet deadlines.
- High degree of initiative and independent judgment.
- High degree of confidence with technology and experience with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel.
- High attention to detail, follow-up, self-motivated, proactive, and solution focused.
- Ability to express self effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to function in a high volume, performance-oriented environment.
- Ability to tactfully and effectively deal with colleagues and the general public in a personable and professional manner.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe.
- Ability to learn other relevant software systems and databases as needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Certified Public Accountant.
- Experience in public accounting as an auditor or working in accounting with a non-profit organization.
- Experience with Financial Edge or NetSuite software.
