Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitor cash daily and record appropriate entries to the general ledger for 3 affiliated Sheakley Companies.
- Prepare Daily cash reports
- Tracking and monitoring of various intercompany transactions and cash activity
- Active involvement in set up of new clients.
- Active involvement in cash requirements process.
- Active involvement with the billing of new clients, monthly clients, fee changes, and cancelation.
- Preparation of journal entries as needed for the business records to be in conformity with GAAP.
- Preparation of bank reconciliations and workpapers as necessary.
- Analyze revenue and expenses for proper revenue recognition and GAAP principles.
- Prepare monthly financial statements for assigned Companies. This includes analyzing the reports to determine proper application of GAAP.
- Assist with budget preparation and importing/balancing into financial system.
- Preparation of sales and use tax returns
- Preparation of year end audit workpapers and other documents as requested by outside auditors in accordance with specified deadlines.
- Special projects as required from time to time
- Backup for Accounting Specialized
Qualifications
- Financial acumen: analytical ability and strong ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
- Solid understanding of accounting principles
- Strong client focus
- Interactions with others at all levels in a professional manner
- Strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrated consistency in values, principles, and work ethic
- Proficiency with computer-based accounting application required
Education And Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- At least 5 years in a Staff Accountant role
- Experience with Great Plains is a plus
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Excel and Word
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to lift and move 25 lbs.
