The Senior Accounting Clerk obtains financial data for use in maintaining accounting records by performing the following duties.
Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Location: On-Site
Hourly Rate of Pay: $21.74

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Reconciles and balances all vendor accounts.
- Analyzes vendor accounts.
- Disperses payroll checks.
- Checks and approves all vouchers for payment. Also prepares invoice deduction notices, as necessary.
- Answers all vendor inquiries.
- Prepares account payable checks.
- Prints all account payable reports and maintains all accounts payable files.
- Prepares analysis of accounts, as required.
- Compiles and sorts documents, such as invoices and checks, substantiating business transactions.
- Verifies, allocates, and posts details of business transactions to subsidiary accounts in journals or computer files from documents such as sales slips, invoices, receipts, check subs, and computer printouts.
- Summarizes details in separate ledgers or computer files and transfers data to general ledger.
- Types vouchers, invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and other records.
- Prepares daily cash deposits and fills out cash control sheet daily.
- Maintains accounts receivable records.
- Reconciles and balances accounts.
- Prepares vouchers for submission to funding sources.
- Prepares budgetary and financial reports for internal use and as required by funding sources.
- Assists in preparation of year-end work papers.
- Assists with related special projects, as required.
- Follows all health and safety regulations.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
- Performs all duties in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the Joint Council for Economic Opportunity, Inc.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A. A.) in Accounting and two years of related experience and/or training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Notary Public license preferred, but not required.
