GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Oncology Registered Nurse is responsible for management of patient care related to cancer and/or hematologic diseases in the ambulatory care setting. Utilizing the nursing process, the registered nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient outcomes. The nurse directs and guides the delivery of patient care, patient and family education, and all care-related activities while maintaining standards of professional nursing. The Oncology Registered Nurse will need to obtain their Chemotherapy Immunotherapy certificate within 1 year of hire and will need to complete 12 oncology continuing education credits each year.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Skills Required:
- Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
- 2 years RN experience preferred.
- 1 year in oncology nursing preferred.
- IV Therapy experience desired.
- Knowledge of Oral Chemo Therapy Drugs preferred.
- Certification in oncology nursing preferred.
As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
