The Staff AP Specialist/Staff Accountant will provide support to the Financial Affairs office and Human Resources by assisting in the day-to-day operations and serving as the office assistant. Reporting to the Controller, the AP Specialist/Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining the accounts payable subledger, processing and posting weekly payments, and performing vendor research and reconciliations. Additionally, the position will assist in month-end reporting procedures and perform a range of general clerical and accounting functions that are consistent with College policy and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The AP Specialist/Staff Accountant will promote the college’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) statement where applicable.
The qualified candidate will serve as an office receptionist, run various reports, and maintain various spreadsheets (credit card, retention files, utilities, etc.); assist with special projects; prepare funds requests and PO requests; mail sorting and distributing; and process student refund checks weekly.
QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field with a concentration in accounting is required. One to five years of experience or internship in accounting or a related field is preferred. Experience in public accounting and/or not-for-profit accounting is a plus. Confidentiality is of the utmost importance. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check.
