The Human Resources (HR) Compliance and Employee Relations Advisor plays an important role in ensuring that our organization maintains the highest standards of compliance and fosters positive employee relations. Supports the HR function of Compliance and Employee Relations (ER) in collaboration with Legal, HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, key business leaders, and other HR colleagues. This role supports the Director of HR Compliance & Employee relations in the development and implementation of proactive strategies, training, communication, capability and awareness building on both HR Compliance and ER best practices.
Responsibilities
- Supports the development, implementation and maintenance of Zebra’s HR compliance programs, policies, procedures, internal audits, investigations and reporting to ensure adherence to employment regulations, labor laws, and other applicable workforce compliance matters.
- Supports government contract compliance and organizational implications in partnership with the business.
- Partners with Legal and provides consultation to HR Business Partners on employee relations matters including HR investigations, performance management, leaves of absence, labor relations actions, restructurings/reductions in force and other employment law related issues.
- Supports the development and delivery of HR Compliance & Employee Relations Training.
- Builds and manages strong business practices to ensure the consistent application and governance of HR policies and controls.
- Stays up to date with employment regulations, labor laws, industry best practices and emerging risks, implementing changes to practices and policies as needed.
- Participates on special projects/programs requiring compliance expertise and project management.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human Resources, or related discipline.
- 8+ years of progressive HR experience with a minimum 2 years in managing HR processes/policies including employee relations and compliance.
- Able to travel up to 25%.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Title VII, OFCCP and AAP, ADA and FMLA compliance as well as an understanding of basic labor relations principles preferred.
- Language skills preferred proficiency in Spanish and/or French.
- Able to work hybrid in Lincolnshire, IL, Holtsville, NY, San Jose, CA, Mississauga, Ontario, CA or St. Laurent, Quebec, CA preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Must have applicable knowledge in country/local employment laws, employee relations principles and regulatory matters, including wage and hour compliance, hiring policies and procedures, recordkeeping, employee data, terminations, employee progressive discipline and procedures, background checks and drug testing.
- Ability to manage HR compliance initiatives and regulations enforced by country and state/local agencies.
- Strong investigative and conflict resolution skills.
- Must be able to assess risks, identify issues, and develop solutions to unusually complex problems using independent judgment.
- Excellent analytical skills with ability to interpret data, accurately document, report, and present findings of HR related investigations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively guide, negotiate, and resolve conflicts.
- Ability to efficiently plan, budget and manage projects and deliver results with strong attention to detail and outcome orientation.
- Desire and ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional teams.
- Strong consultancy skills and ability to lead with influence.
