**This is a hybrid role and can be based out of West Monroe, LA or Jackson, MS and requires an estimated 70% time traveling. If outside this area, relocation will be required. Relocation assistance is not available for this posting**
JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
The Operational Technology Consultant is responsible for maintaining Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) compliance of Real Time Systems at Entergy’s fossil fuel powered electricity generation plants. In this role the OT Consultant will design/develop computer system solutions to solve complex problems and systems, related to the power generation business, with a high level of reliability and execution speed.
The OT Consultant will apply appropriate software quality assurance principles for configuration management system software. In addition, the OT Consultant will develop computer and information system plans that capitalize on the current installed technology base and prudently employ new technology where appropriate.
In addition, where needed, the OT Consultant will provide customer support and services for problem reporting, and service requests and inquiries. This includes developing and providing training to end users on assigned systems.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide consultation and support for strategic planning aspects of computer hardware, software and local area and wide area networks infrastructure to insure consistency with business plans and corporate standards.
- Conduct business analytical studies to integrate business needs into system wide development plans to ensure the System Business Unit needs are met.
- Analyze user processes and requirements to identify potential improvements.
- Develop and provide training to end users on assigned systems.
- Perform reviews and audits of work performed by the organization.
- Develop and revise procedures in accordance with current regulatory and administrative requirements as well as develop plans and recommend actions to management team.
- Communicate technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing.
- Implements, tests, troubleshoots and improves electronic automation and controls systems in operations processes to increase production quality, efficiency and volume.
- Checks control system schematics and specifications and uses software and testing equipment to diagnose and resolve system malfunctions.
- Develops and defines control system applications for various machinery and equipment using technologies or platforms such as ladder logic programming for programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human machine interfaces (HMIs), data control systems (DCSs), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), computerized numerical control (CNC) systems or motion control technology.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience. A degree is highly preferred.
Minimum experience required of the position.
- IT Consultant: 4+ years of experience with applying security controls to assets at a generation site.
- IT Consultant, Sr: 6+ years of experience (or 5 years w/advanced degree) with applying security controls to assets at a generation site.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position.
- Experience with the operation or engineering of a generation unit.
- Experience with control systems security, security architecture, network security engineering or secure network development experience with electric power utilities.
- Experience with PI, OPC & Modbus Interfaces
- Experience in implementing security control policy and procedures.
- Knowledge of the operation of the electric power and/or generation systems
- Knowledge of system hardening, patch management, and configuration management
- Knowledge of security controls testing, security audits, and security assessments
- Knowledge of fraud and computer forensics
- Knowledge and understanding of NIST controls.
