Description
The CFO Services Strategy and Growth Lead (SGL) is instrumental in driving market success for the CFO practice. The CFO SGL works with the CFO Lead to drive the strategic vision for the practice. These activities include but are not limited to market/business development, implementing financial strategy and modeling, thought leadership, talent management, communications, coordination and collaboration with other Business units outside of the CFO practice. Given its nascent position, there will be a significant focus on market presence (internal to A&M and external), solution build out and prioritization, talent acquisition (organic and inorganic), and team growth and development. Below is the breadth of activities; however, not all job responsibilities will run concurrently.
Responsibilities:
Strategy & Growth
- Manage and execute the industry vision, working closely with the MDs and solution leader.
- Develop and implement strategies, procedures and business plans.
- Lead market scanning for emerging industry themes and key developments.
- Cultivate and provide opportunities for rising talent within the organization.
- Provide oversight and management related to project risk, pricing, and other engagement matters.
- Track MSAs, SOWs and manage account and project archives.
Business Development Leadership
- Lead weekly pipeline reviews, including meeting material preparation, updates to pipeline opportunities, and stakeholder follow-ups as required.
- Prepare collateral for weekly leadership meetings and monthly CFO team meetings and support running the meetings as needed.
Proposal & Pipeline Management
- Support proposal team through the identification of current POV, quals and resources.
- Assist with finding resources to help with the creation of materials.
- Manage pipeline, including CRM system entry and data.
- Manage the proposal pipeline.
- Identify areas for improved collaboration and enhanced penetration into strategic clients.
Relationship Tracking
- Manage relationship maps for all CFO contacts.
- Manage CRM system and ensure it is current.
Proposal Support
- Assist with individual proposal triage to win more business, close cycle times, and improve our win rate. Providing Win/Loss analysis and remediation recommendations.
- Maintain and curate CFO sales and marketing artifacts.
- Collect and maintain CFO proposal collateral, including project quals and team bios.
- Drives the capture of client successes through the project close process, including soliciting project artifacts, value statements, qualifications, proposal, and deliverables from project teams.
Marketing, Conferences and Thought Leadership
- Oversee the marketing activities for the overall group, including conference attendance, client meetings, marketing materials, panel participation and other speaking engagements.
Marketing
- Oversee the marketing activities for the solution including campaign themes, website content, marketing artifacts, qualifications, etc.
- Support social media, PR and other market-facing planning, including content production and distribution.
Conferences & Memberships
- Provide lead support for all conference attendance, including participation schedule, client meeting preparations, and speaking engagement preparation and management.
- Oversee all membership affiliations, including participation and relationship management.
Thought Leadership
- Coordinate internal development and improvement of thought leadership to support marketing campaigns, including support with topic selection, external writer coordination and content production support.
- Coordinate activities and measure returns on investment with Corporate and CPI Marketing.
- Assist with developing and updating industry messaging.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Oversee financial performance relative to targets (top line collections and gross margin).
- Partner with CPI Finance on financial forecasting and reporting.
- Monitor and manage expenses within the established budget.
- Partner with CPI Finance to manage reporting of pipeline and highly likely opportunities.
- Prepare consolidated budgets and forecasts for leadership.
- Forecast project margins and ad-hoc requests to make commercial decisions.
- Support year-end compensation process.
- Understand project economics and uphold financial protocols.
- Develop financial models for business acquisition, group hires, global and MD investments, and other special projects.
Talent Management
Hiring
- Establish and oversee the talent roadmap, including identification of staffing/skills gap at all levels.
- Work with CPI/PSS Experienced Hire Recruiting to ensure we have talent adequate pipeline.
Resource Management
- Cultivate and provide opportunities for rising talent within solution/industry.
- Collaborate with ACE leaders on pipeline of internal talent into the solution group.
- Coordinate with MDs and CPI/PSS staffing team to resolve conflicts.
Training
- Works with CPI Training to a) develop Industry Training Strategy, b) manage individual training requests, and c) develop and execute industry onboarding.
- Collaborate with Leadership on training programs and technical skill requirements by level.
Evaluation
- Assist with performance management activities, as needed – i.e., Performance Manager assignments, consensus meeting prep and execution.
Communications
- Develop and drive Solution/Industry specific communication strategy and plan with CFO Lead, CFO Leadership Team, SME network, and CFO practitioners.
- Coordinate with CPI support areas, including Knowledge Management, Marketing, Finance, Training, and Solutions to ensure consistency and share leading practices.
- Facilitate bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly practice updates.
- Prepare, release and manage Monthly CFO newsletter, CFO distribution lists, and maintaining CFO SharePoint Site and facilitate communications across industry and solution teams.
- Develop and drive Industry-specific communication strategy and plan with Industry Leader, Industry Leadership Team, SME network, and Industry practitioners.
- Distribute practice dashboard and reporting.
- Coordinate brand alignment and program management across the CPI teams.
Compensation
SGLs are eligible to receive additional compensation for originating a new client and or selling credit on new engagements and/or the extension of an engagement.
Qualifications
- Minimum seven years of progressive leadership, strategy, program management, business development support and/or account management experience.
- Experience leading and managing a team within a complex, matrixed environment with multiple stakeholders and decision makers.
- Experience in program development and execution with strong project management and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working as a co within the CFO Services solution.
- Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills with existing, or the ability to quickly establish, strong relationships with stakeholder individuals and groups at all levels across the firm.
- An innovative mindset that can think strategically with a willingness to execute tactically.
- Can adapt, learn quickly and be resourceful; flexible and willing to pivot to keep pace with evolving needs.
- Ability to synthesize large quantities of complex data into actionable information.
- Experience leading and managing a team within a complex, matrixed environment with multiple stakeholders and decision makers.
