Investment Management Consultant

The Opportunity
We’re looking for a highly motivated and engaged Investment Consultant. They must be task-driven and detail-oriented while having clear and concise written and verbal communication skills. Key responsibilities include processing incoming invoices, reviewing for accuracy, keeping accurate records of all incoming invoices and outgoing payments, managing reconciliation tasks, and submitting invoices into the Ariba payment system. The incumbent should enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, be comfortable taking on complex tasks, and work in partnership with others both on our team and across the enterprise. This position is based in Springfield or Boston, with a hybrid schedule.
The Team
The Strategy and Planning team is part of the Investment Management (IM) Strategy and Governance Organization. The Strategy and Governance team drives IM’s strategy forward, optimizing governance and decision-making processes, analyzing and establishing common metrics, processes, and tools, and supporting key internal and external stakeholders in progressing the IM target operating model. The team is also responsible for coordinating the department's strategic initiatives, Investment Compliance, Investment Due-Diligence, and Investment Data Strategy and Governance.
Impact/Key Responsibilities
- Reconcile and process invoice payments in MassMutual’s vendor management system, Ariba
- Create and manage an invoice tracking system across multiple cost centers
- Analyze financial information with the ability to create first drafts of presentations and materials
- Communicate with vendors and suppliers to ensure charges are accurate and payments are received and processed promptly
- Recognize discrepancies and be proactive in solutioning corrections
- Submit and track accruals and reclasses
- Assist in annual forecast, budget, and planning cycles
- Review financial and contingent worker time tracking reports and create materials for reporting purposes
- Reconcile timecards through Resource Management with invoices to ensure proper project codes are being utilized
- Enter Purchase Orders through Ariba
- Manage, support, and execute the onboarding and off-boarding activities of employees and contingent resources for the division
- Assist with oversight and coordinating business-as-usual initiatives’ status, budgets (actuals, plan, and forecast), milestones and risks, actions, issues, decisions (RAID) logs
- Prepare presentation materials to communicate the team’s overall progress to achieve its goals and escalate any risks, issues, and/or decisions where appropriate
- Support Corporate Function Project Management Office coordination as needed
- Assist with employee engagement, team building, event planning, and other organizational functions as needed
- Support Demand and Capacity modeling as needed
- SharePoint site maintenance and support
- Handle small initiative tasks and coordinate or perform ad-hoc administrative activities as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree OR in lieu of an associate’s degree, we require 7+ years in equivalent professional experience
- A minimum of 3+ years of related experience as an accounting specialist, project coordinator, or similar roles
The Ideal Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3+ years of work experience as an accounting specialist, project coordinator, or similar role preferred, preferably in an investment management business
- Can-do, positive attitude and comfortable working with senior, executive, and external stakeholders
- Team Player/Relationship Building: Collaborative with strong interpersonal skills; able to relate to and build strong relationships with diverse internal and external audiences
- Innovation: Continually looks within and beyond their job, anticipating business needs and opportunities.
- Expert knowledge and comfort working with advanced versions of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Working knowledge of Smartsheet and Resource Management
- Previous experience working in a financial services/insurance organization
