As a Clinical Engineering Consultant, you will be part of the Technology Management team providing implementation, service, and support for all Banner Health medical equipment. POSITION SUMMARY: This position provides technical expertise used to develop and implement equipment plans for capital projects throughout the system. The project management team provides technical and business expertise to assist the organization's Materials Management and Construction Management Teams in evaluating, leveraging and selecting capital equipment manufacturer and design standards to be implemented during capital projects.
CORE FUNCTIONS:
- Supports the development and review of business plans by assessing equipment needs and developing accurate capital equipment plans and budget estimates for construction and other projects involving equipment competing for Strategic and Regional Capital from all medical facilities.
- Works with Materials Management in the development and enforcement of established equipment manufacturer standards for medical and communication equipment.
- Provides clinical engineering support for major projects and administrative support for major construction projects under the direction of construction management office.
- Provides professional communications while interfacing with senior management, finance, physicians, clinical managers, staff, and other members of technology management.
- Provides consulting services in a professional manner by providing frequent and appropriate communication with customers.
- Provides appropriately detailed equipment planning documentation and training for the department’s technical service team.
- Leads and works collaboratively with facility administrators, physicians, clinical managers, and project management teams to develop and implement equipment plans.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a strong knowledge of technology and/or engineering as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in a technology, engineering or related field.
A minimum of five years experience working in a hospital clinical setting dealing with the design, selection, installation and maintenance of complex medical systems.
Thorough knowledge of complex medical system design and function, and computer and network system design and function required.
Must also possess proven leadership and/or project management experience, including all project phases such as planning through acceptance, of multi-disciplinary projects involving special systems.
Must demonstrate excellent technical, interpersonal and communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certification as Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE), Certified Biomedical Equipment Tech (CBET), Certified Laboratory Equipment Specialists (CLES) or Certified Radiology Equipment Specialist (CRES) preferred.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
