Senior Human Resources Business and Talent Partner

JOB OBJECTIVE:
The Senior HR Business and Talent Partner will play a crucial role in aligning HR strategies with business objectives and will serve as a consultant to business leaders, providing guidance and support in all areas of human resources and talent management. Their primary focus will be on attracting, developing, and retaining top talent, fostering a positive work environment, driving employee engagement, and implementing HR/Talent initiatives that enhance organizational effectiveness.
This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving the organization's HR and talent strategies. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in managing high-impact talent programs, optimizing recruitment practices, and supporting operational business partners across the organization. This role will be expected to support the overall talent and HR needs of WETA (to include NewsHour Productions and union staff). Strong knowledge and understanding of union laws and operations preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Strategic Partnerships: Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement HR strategies that support the organization's goals and objectives. Establish external partnerships with organizations that support diverse and underrepresented communities.
- Employee Relations: Act as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices. Handle employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Talent Management: Lead talent acquisition efforts, including workforce planning, recruitment, and onboarding processes. Develop and implement retention strategies to attract and retain top talent. Demonstrate intentional efforts to build a more diverse and inclusive talent pool.
- Performance Management: Drive performance management processes, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and coaching. Provide managers with tools and resources to effectively manage employee performance and development.
- Learning and Development: Identify training needs and manage learning and development initiatives to enhance employee skills and capabilities. Facilitate training sessions and workshops as needed.
- HR Metrics and Analytics: Track HR metrics and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Use data-driven insights to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement in HR processes and practices.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations. Stay current on legal developments and advise management on potential risks and implications.
- Change Management: Support organizational change initiatives by helping managers navigate change, communicating effectively with employees, and mitigating resistance.
SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Master's degree or 7+ years of experience in HR, with a focus on business partnership and strategic HR initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations. Experience with unions helpful.
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Understanding of HR best practices and current regulations.
- HR Certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
SALARY RANGE: $100,000-$110,000
LOCATION:
WETA and NewsHour Productions are Washington, DC established media and news organizations. We are a largely local workforce based out of the Campbell Place office in Arlington, VA. WETA and NewsHour Productions value employee flexibility when possible. Most positions based in our Arlington, VA office will be onsite or hybrid, depending upon the role.
