Join our team as a Communications Consultant (CC) 3! In this role, you will write, edit/review, and update various public-facing materials and content for the Strategy, Policy, and Innovation (SPI) Division at the Health Care Authority (HCA). This position develops announcements, materials, and other content for high-profile, statewide efforts like the Universal Health Care Commission, Health Care Cost Transparency Board, health equity, and more. About the division:
The Communications Division (COM) provides external and internal communications support for HCA. This position, which sits in COM, works closely with SPI to support day-to-day communication needs, and ensure messaging is available, clear, consistent, and proactive with audiences. This position also works alongside the Policy Communications Manager to provide strategic communications consultation and planning for SPI on highly visible, multi-agency, legislatively mandated, and statewide efforts.
About the position:
This position serves as a communications consultant within the SPI Division at HCA. SPI leads HCA’s health transformation work, focusing on moving our state toward value-based, whole-person care. SPI also coordinates our agency’s legislative activities to advance Washington State’s and the Governor's health care priorities.
Some of what you will do:
- Own, develop/create, maintain, and update materials and content.
- Lead specific communications efforts for SPI-related programs and deliverables.
- Review and edit agency and division publications and materials.
Required qualifications:
Qualifying candidates will satisfy one of the following criteria options:
- Seven (7) years of writing/editing experience or equivalent education/experience.
- Associate degree and five (5) years of writing/editing experience or equivalent education/experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, humanities, public relations, or related field and three (3) years of writing/editing experience or equivalent education/experience.
- Master’s degree in English, communications, journalism, humanities, public relations, or related field and one (1) year of writing/editing experience or equivalent education/experience.
Required competencies:
- Proficient skill in the use of various software, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Demonstrated ability to edit reports, presentations, and other materials and content with close attention to detail, flow and format, repetition, and inconsistencies.
- Clearly communicate complex technical information in verbal, written, and other communication forms to a non-technical audience.
