Duties:
- Provide expert legal advice on privacy and data protection compliance matters.
- Advise clients on data security incidents and manage related regulatory investigations.
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, and international data security incident notification obligations.
- Defend clients in regulatory investigations related to privacy and security.
- Oversee and manage cybersecurity breach responses and legal strategies.
- Conduct a thorough analysis of privacy and security obligations within various contracts.
- Collaborate with technical teams to understand and address data privacy issues.
- Communicate complex legal and technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
- Lead data privacy and security projects, ensuring timely and successful outcomes.
- Stay updated on evolving data privacy and security laws and regulations.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in privacy, data protection, or cybersecurity law.
- Demonstrated experience with privacy and security obligations and breach response.
- Proven track record in defending regulatory investigations related to privacy and security.
- Experience in a law firm or in-house environments, particularly with privacy and cybersecurity breach response or litigation.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the State Bar of Texas or eligibility to become licensed in Texas.
