Job Overview: Lead the coordination of the Pro-Equity Anti-Racism (PEAR) Program, fostering collaboration across the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife to uphold its values. By building effective communication, providing training, and partnering with staff and external stakeholders, this role drives strategic initiatives to address inequities and improve service accessibility.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage Pro-Equity Anti-Racism (PEAR) initiatives to improve relationships and build partnerships with programs and external partners.
- Engage all levels of management, staff, the PEAR Team, and external partners to be inclusive of diverse staff within the Agency, including BIPOC, staff with limited English proficiency (LEP), staff with disabilities, LGBTQ+ members, and those interested in conservation.
- Identify PEAR challenges and mitigation options in coordination with the Communications and Public Engagement (CAPE) Team and Department executive leadership.
- Assist CAPE in building partnerships with external organizations and communities to promote and achieve strategic goals.
- Serve as subject matter expert on PEAR engagement and coordinate with CAPE to enhance outreach and engagement with Washington’s diverse communities.
- Prepare and submit quarterly performance reviews to monitor progress towards agency PEAR Strategic Action Plan goals.
- Coordinate cross-functional meetings to analyze, develop, design, implement, and evaluate PEAR Strategies.
- Design mechanisms to capture benchmarks and status of PEAR Team initiatives.
- Assist the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Team in developing a community engagement plan.
- Organize and present workshops to provide training, consultation, and guidance for Department staff working with diverse communities.
Working Conditions: Office work is performed almost exclusively in an office environment with flexible opportunities for remote work. Occasional fieldwork may be required.
Schedule: Typically Monday – Friday, 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. Will be expected to adjust schedule and work additional hours as needed.
Travel Requirements: Ability to travel throughout the State may be required.
Customer Interactions: Ability and willingness to interact with the public and agency personnel. Excellent customer service skills are essential.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in public or business administration, political science, communications, social science, public relations, or related field.
- OR Five (5) or more years of professional experience in DEI or intercultural studies.
Certifications/Licenses: Valid Driver’s License.
Experience:
- Implementing organization development strategies related to diversity management.
- Project management and program/event organization.
- Managing outreach events, such as community forums or public meetings.
Knowledge of:
- ADA and Title VI policies and best practices.
- Cultural competency, diversity, equity, and inclusion outreach best practices.
- Research methods including public involvement strategies.
- Ability to develop and deliver engaging presentations to diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters in Public Administration, Policy, Social Science, or related field.
- Bilingual in Spanish, Russian, Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Tagalog, or Korean.
- Familiarity with natural resource challenges in Washington State.
- Certification in DEI concepts.
