Job Description:
Surgical Technologists perform various duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure a safe and successful operative procedure. This position functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and directly reports to Surgical Services management. It is expected that the ORT III will support system wide and surgical operations initiatives and practices. In addition, this person will actively participate in the surgical operations safety plan as outlined.

- Pay Range: $19.97 - $29.74/hour (depending on experience). Also includes a sign-on bonus up to $10,000.

- Shift Details: Full-time, 40 hours/week. 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Call shifts every 3 weeks.

As a Surgical Techyou need to know how to:
Assist surgeon during surgery, handle instruments, retract, assist with equipment and drape patients properly. Set up surgical cases according to the surgeon's preference cards.
Practice proper sterile technique and report any variation.
Assist as second circulator as necessary.
Demonstrate knowledge and perform proper positioning and pull proper prepping materials for per physician's preference.
Handleanticipated and unanticipated events and crisis situations in a professional manner.
Cover call and respondin a timely manner.
Maintain and order supplies.
Decontaminate equipment, instruments and supplies and perform terminal cleaning for operating room to ensure a safe patient environment.
Demonstrate knowledge and use proper equipment and instrumentation for specific surgeries.
Have all supplies and equipment in room. Report any malfunctioning equipment or unusual conditions of ventilation, plumbing, electrical systems, etc.

Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist
1 year of OR scrubbing experience is preferred
1year of clinical experience in an accredited hospital is preferred

Physical Requirements:
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
