The Intensive Care Unit at Holy Rosary is a 5 bed ICU. Expanded services include Tele-critical care with Intermountain Intensivists to provide 24/7 critical care and oversight. Part of a Level 4 trauma team. This is a great opportunity to be involved in system wide best practice councils and leadership.
Med Surg/Swing bed is a dynamic 18 bed unit that provides care to general Medical and Surgical needs as well as continued rehab in the Swing Bed Unit. Holy Rosary has 24/7 provider coverage on the unit. The Nurse Manager is able to collaborate not only within the facility to improve care but also involved in system wide process improvement teams.
Nurse managers are nurse leaders with 24 hour accountability and responsibility for a direct care unit or units. They provide the vital link between the administrative strategic plan and the point of care. The nurse manager is responsible for creating safe, healthy environments that support the work of the health care team and contribute to patient engagement. The role is influential in creating a professional environment and fostering a culture where interdisciplinary team members are able to contribute to optimal patient outcomes and grow professionally.
Scope:
- Develop staffing matrices that facilitate safe, quality patient care using practice standards and stewarding resources.
- Evaluate staffing patterns and unit demands. Match competency and patient Demonstrate an understanding of labor laws and organizational policies related to human resources
- Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard new associates
- Conduct associate evaluations, assist with goal setting, and when necessary initiate corrective action
- Facilitate associate education, ensure competency validation, and promote professional development
- Retention of associates
- Promote cultural competence and an environment that embraces diversity
- Demonstrates a growing knowledge of the patient populations and standards of care delivery in which the unit(s) serve
- Facilitates performance improvement by identifying key performance indicators, establishing data collection methodology, evaluates data, and responds to findings with the development of action plans.
- Routinely assesses patient satisfaction and develops strategies to improve the patient experience
- Monitors and reports patient and associate safety events. Participates in root cause analysis, promotes evidence based practice changes, and manages incident reporting
- Maintains regulatory and survey readiness
- Monitors and promotes workplace safety
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of nursing, required
- Current RN license in state of practice or compact license with the ability to obtain RN license, required
- Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association, required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in nursing, healthcare administration, or business
- Leadership experience - leading committees, councils, or professional organization
Formal leadership experience as a charge nurse, supervisor
Physical Requirements:
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.- and -Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.- and -Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.- and -Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.- and -Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).- and -May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
