The Clinic
Simply stated, Lorenz is a psychology clinic, founded on the values and norms of professional psychology. The clinic is known for its relative density of doctorally-prepared clinicians. The model of care leverages interdisciplinary treatment teams to treat the second-order problems that hold symptoms in place.
Practicing at Lorenz Clinic is marked by a high degree of professionalism, our superordinate core value. A sense of social obligation pervades our work, which drives our focus on delivering quality services. The clinic engages in Reflective Practice, which ensures our workplace is conducive to the work itself.
Interprofessional training is the keystone of our system. At any given time, about 20% of the clinicians at Lorenz are involved in training in one way or another. The training program is one of the most selective in Minnesota, with placements ranging from master’s practicum to specialty postdoctoral psychology fellowship and everything in between.
Rather than crowing about the latest burnout-focused gimmicks, Lorenz Clinic has adopted an evidence-based clinician wellness roadmap aimed at ensuring autonomy, choice, a reasonable workload, social connectivity, fairness, and actualization of our core values.
The Department
Working alongside psychiatry providers and family therapists with access to testing and higher levels of care, licensed psychologists treat clients who are being held by a clinic system and interprofessional treatment team.
Psychologists at Lorenz often serve in leadership roles. Providers aren’t pigeon-holed working with high acuity cases in isolation and have autonomy to choose the types of cases best suited to their competence and interest.
The clinic’s training department is an affiliate of a number of area graduate programs and has an APPIC-listed postdoc and internships, which allow the team to have a hand in training the next generation of psychologists for the betterment of the profession itself.
The Role
This position entails the provision of outpatient evaluation and treatment—either testing or psychotherapy, depending on provider interest and competence. Lorenz maintains a relatively high psychologist ratio, strong referral base, and a variety of integrated mental health services including in-house psychological testing, intensive groups, and psychotherapy. The clinic selects interventionists who are relationally-focused and socially-committed.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- The provision of psychological services including conducting diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, psychotherapy, psychological testing, and discharge planning for patients of the clinic.
- Carrying patient caseload as assigned.
- The provision of clinical and administrative supervision.
- Assisting the Training Director in coordinating, organizing, and supervising trainees.
- Reviewing supervisees’ documentation and taking responsibility for any corresponding billing.
- Ensuring such documentation is consistent with managed care contracts and the professional standard.
- Attending and participating in monthly case consultation, Grand Rounds, business meetings, and other meetings as required.
- Compliance with clinic documentation standards.
- Compliance with licensing board rules and APA Code of Ethics.
This is a full-time, salaried, benefits-eligible position. Our practice does not host 1099 contractors.
Job Requirements
The most successful candidates will evidence a track record of service as an interventionist with a high degree of professional activity within the field. The position requirements include but are not limited to:
- A doctoral degree in psychology from an APA accredited academic program.
- Full, unrestricted licensure as a Licensed Psychologist (LP) in Minnesota.
- At least 2 years providing clinical supervision (preferred).
- Formal training in child or family therapy (preferred).
Benefits
This position may be eligible for student loan repayment. Full-time, independently licensed clinicians enjoy a robust benefits package that includes paid burnout time, twelve weeks of paid parenting leave regardless of gender, and an annual CEU allowance. Employer-sponsored health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, and short- and long-term disability insurance are also available.
Paid time off, paid holidays, paid service/volunteer time, paid continuing education hours, paid parental leave, an employee assistance program, a flexible schedule, and professional development assistance round out the offering.
As an active training clinic, most clinicians at Lorenz earn about 100 hours per year of board-approved continuing education just from showing up to work. The clinic hosts an annual conference, monthly grand rounds, and four hours per month of case consultation with a specialist.
Above all, adding Lorenz Clinic to your resume is a distinctive badge of professionalism and quality recognized the field over.
