- Schedule - Shift - Hours: Full Time - Day Shift
This is an on-site position located in Brunswick, Maine.
Reporting to the Sr. Director of Credential Verification and Medical Staff and accountable to the Chief Medical Officer, President and President-Elect of the Medical Staff(s), the Medical Staff Specialist manages and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the organized medical staff(s) within MaineHealth. This individual serves as a content expert in accreditation standards, legal requirements and best practices related to the Medical Staff organization; and as a key liaison between and among the Medical Staff(s) at large, elected Medical Staff leadership, hospital administration, hospital counsel/legal affairs, the Board, and Leadership across MaineHealth. Drawing on comprehensive knowledge of the Medical Staff organization, associated By-laws, accreditation standards, state and federal laws and available technology, the Medical Staff Specialist manages the credentialing and privileging processes, ensuring all providers are fully qualified and competent to deliver care to our patients.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Education: Bachelor's degree or minimum of five years' equivalent work experience in related field.
- License/Certifications: N/A
- Experience: Knowledge of credentialing processes, accreditation and regulatory standards, state and federal laws related to provider licensure preferred; customer service principles, typically acquired during two to four years of related experience.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office programs, database management and website utilization.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills; ability to work collaboratively and effectively with other departments, staff of all levels and external practice entities.
- Demonstrated analytic and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of project management and office administrative practices.
