Scope of Job
To provide highly skilled technical performance and supervision of all procedures in Nuclear Medicine and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) studies.
Description of Duties
- Provides imaging services for patient care, prepares and administers radioactive drugs and/or contrast media to patients.
- Performs patient care activities within the professional scope of practice.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of all routine section-specific protocols/procedures.
- Demonstrates skills required to complete clinical competencies.
- Ensures patient studies are reviewed for accuracy.
- Communicates professionally with all patient care providers.
- Addresses and handles patient care concerns.
- Practices responsible use of communication tools.
- Follows ALARA safety guidelines.
- Accurately enters data into systems.
- Performs CT Procedures as needed.
- Adheres to Joint Commission standards.
- Administers contrast agents and utilizes sterile techniques.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervision Received
General supervision from assigned supervisor.
Supervision Given
Direct supervision of assigned staff.
Required Education
Graduate of an accredited program of study in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
Licenses/Certifications
Nuclear Medicine Technologist, ARRT (N) certification, or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. Additional requirements for operating a University-Owned Vehicle.
Required Experience
One (1) year clinical experience.
Working Conditions
Office/Clinic/Research Environment; some travel, weekend work, and irregular shifts may be required.
Other
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of staff and physicians.
