Position Summary
CT (computed tomography) technologists are radiologic technicians who specialize in taking cross-sectional x-ray images of the tissues, bones, organs, and blood vessels in an area of a patient's body.
Responsibilities
- Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns.
- Produces computerized tomography scanner radiographs of specific areas as required by the departmental procedures.
- Performs a variety of tasks.
- Works under general supervision.
- A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
- Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function.
- Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned.
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of an AMA approved School of Radiology Technology required, Nuclear Medicine or Radiation Therapy.
- ARRT certification in Radiography and/or Radiation Therapy, and/or Certification in Nuclear Medicine through the NMTCB required.
- CT certification within one year of employment required.
- BLS required.
Working Conditions
- Must be able to lift and move up to 35lbs.
- Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position.
- Typical equipment used in a clinical job.
- Must be able to stoop, crouch, or bend.
- Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment.
