The role of the Physician Advisor (PA) is to serve as an integral member of the acute care leadership team at each campus, assessing and influencing clinical resource utilization, leading clinical processes and flow improvement, ensuring proper and appropriate patient progression of care, engaging with medical staff, and aligning with Lee Health strategic priorities. They will optimize patient experience within the acute care facility through improved communication and collaboration between physicians, staff, and patients. They will improve health outcomes through quality and documentation initiatives, elevating clinical practice through standardization and decrease in unnecessary variation. They will encourage and support a coordinated care model throughout the continuum of care, focusing on simplifying transitions and creating value for our patients. They will strengthen financial results through placement optimization, appropriate documentation education and support, and flow enhancement through progression of care. Additionally, they will guide the healthcare team in proper compliance with payer regulations and policies.
Job Requirements
- Education Requirement: M.D. or D.O required. Must be board certified in an approved clinical specialty with post graduate experience in direct patient care.
- Experience Requirements: Minimum of 1 year of medical experience required. Experience in utilization management and leadership. Understanding of the current managed care environment, contracts and contracted benefits. Candidates who have private practice experience in the community are preferred.
- State of Florida Licensure Requirements: Medical Doctor license required. Florida license preferred.
- Certifications/Registration Requirements: None required.
- Other Requirements: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to educate and counsel peers, appropriate knowledge base on medical necessity criteria, flexibility and availability by site, phone or electronic means. The ability to listen, analyze and approach issues in an unbiased way. Candidates who have committed time to continuing management education, either through regular attendance at medical management seminars and conferences or to the pursuit of an advanced management degree are also valuable.
