Description
HealthCare Alliance Group LLC, an innovative, full-service medical communications company, is seeking a Medical Editing and Writing Specialist to add to the Medical Strategy department. The primary responsibilities of this position are to copyedit, proofread, fact check, and assist in the creation of summaries and original content for all aspects of medical affairs and commercial projects and activities across multiple therapeutic areas. The Medical Editing and Writing Specialist will also develop and maintain the HCA style guide and assist with social media content.
Requirements
- Attend client meetings (live and virtual advisory boards, steering committees, symposia, product theaters, etc.) and complete medical notetaking throughout.
- Assist in the development of advisory board and other meeting summaries, as well as formulating action steps, for medical affairs and commercial projects and activities.
- Assist in the development of scientific-based content for medical affairs and commercial projects and activities, including:
- PowerPoint slide presentations
- Faculty biographies
- Agendas and objectives
- Any other content as directed by the Medical Director
- Copyedit, proofread and fact check a variety of healthcare provider and patient communication materials (i.e. registration websites, online activities, PowerPoint slide presentations, transcripts, journal articles, program workbooks, posters, marketing materials, etc.) for adherence to organization and style guidelines and to verify that editor's and author's corrections are incorporated at each stage.
- Ensure consistency among individual pieces of any HCP and patient communication content to support programs.
- Ensure correct grammar, spelling, usage, and adherence to AMA, company, and client styles (when appropriate).
- Define and maintain specific style guides, and assure integrity of content and consistency of styles.
- Perform online research as necessary (i.e. verifying terminology citations, PubMed searches, etc.).
- Prepare reference lists for all activities, when needed.
- Identify copyrights and permissions needed for all activities and submit Permissions Log to Project Managers.
- Purchase required permissions from journals, as directed by the Program Manager of Medical Director and submit required paperwork to Finance department.
- Conduct necessary background research and literature searches.
- Assist Medical Director with maintenance of project trackers and work completed throughout other departments to ensure timely delivery of content to clients, as well as version control.
- Maintain HCA style guide.
- Write text for activity posts to be placed on social media sites as directed.
- All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or (B.S) in Communications, Marketing, Business, or a related field, from a four-year college or university.
- A minimum of 5 or more years of experience in medical copyediting and editing within a medical communications company setting.
- A minimum of 2 or more years of experience of medical notetaking and medical writing within a medical communications company setting, or a related field.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Understanding of medical terminology and domain knowledge of varying therapeutic areas.
- Knowledge of and proficient with AMA style.
- Excellent referencing and annotating skills.
- Excellent copyediting and proofreading skills.
- Logistical and succinct writing skills with accurate data interpretation and representation.
- Maintain accuracy, consistency, and security of data.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment.

TRAVEL
This position requires up to 25% travel time.
