Compensation:
- Minimum Rate Per Hour: $24.55
- Maximum Rate Per Hour: $35.54
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Surgical Technologist to join our Main Operating Room team for the night shift. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that the operating room is properly set up, that all instruments and equipment are functioning correctly, and that surgical procedures are carried out smoothly. You will work closely with the surgical team to anticipate needs and provide support during surgeries, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.
Essential Functions:
- Collaborate with the surgeon before surgery to discuss any special needs and prepare the operating room accordingly.
- Set up sterile instrument tables and ensure the availability of necessary supplies and equipment.
- Prepare the operative site by aseptically cleaning and patient clipping as required.
- Maintain and organize the instrument table to prevent damage and ensure correct instrument counts.
- Perform surgical counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments according to established policies.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team, providing sterile supplies, holding retractors, and responding to needs during surgery.
- Assist with draping and positioning the patient and applying surgical dressings post-procedure.
- Manage surgical specimens, ensuring they are passed off the sterile field and documented correctly.
- Disassemble surgical instruments after the procedure, prepare them for decontamination, and clean the operating room.
- Follow infection control policies, AORN guidelines, OSHA standards, and other regulatory requirements to ensure a safe working environment.
- Maintain an inventory of clean and sterilized surgical equipment, and collaborate with the team to manage supplies and documentation.
Key Success Factors:
- Strong knowledge of infection prevention, sterilization standards, and aseptic techniques.
- Understanding of human anatomy and surgical procedures, with the ability to assist surgeons during invasive procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with the surgical team and central sterile processing staff.
- Ability to handle occasional exposure to chemical and radiation hazards.
- Completion of a CAAHEP-accredited surgical technologist program, military training program, or equivalent experience.

Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program.
- Experience: Less than 1 year of experience required.
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification from NBSTSA or NCCT required unless exempt based on prior experience before September 1, 2009.
